John R. Rice was a well-known and influential evangelist, fundamentalist, author, editor, lover of people and horses, founder and publisher of the Sword of the Lord weekly newspaper, and speaker at thousands of revival meetings and Bible conferences around the world. Lloys Cooke Rice, John R.'s wife and partner for more than five decades, was equally extraordinary and almost as well known -- a wise and engaging speaker, a Bible scholar, a woman who cared deeply about others and understood more than almost anyone the meaning of the phrase "unconditional love."

The John R. and Lloys Rice Museum is at the Bill Rice Ranch and Christian Retreat outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The museum occupies the house where John R. Rice lived from 1963 until his death in 1980, and where Lloys lived on until her death in 1989. The house was moved to the ranch from its original location on the Rice's farm in 1993, and opened as a museum in 1995. The museum contains many personal belongings of the Rice family, including furniture, photos and paintings, musical instruments, and personal correspondence.
